DAR Genealogy Workshop at the Greeley House
May 13, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Organizers of a proposed new Chappaqua chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host a genealogy workshop with the New Castle Historical Society next month to help locals trace their ancestry back to the American Revolution.
The May 13th genealogy workshop will run from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Horace Greeley House, 100 King Street in Chappaqua and it is open to the public free of charge.
The guest lecturer, Kari Weis, is the organizing regent of the new chapter and NY State DAR Vice Chair of Volunteer Genealogy. In addition to Kari, other DAR members will be on hand to help with any questions.
This workshop is designed to assist those who are interested in finding American Revolutionary patriots in their family tree. If individuals haven’t started to collect any family documentation they are encouraged to come and learn about the steps needed to document lineage. Experienced researchers are welcome as well.
DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join. www.dar.org
